"Darkness on the Edge of Town" is a song by American rock singer/songwriter Bruce Springsteen. It's the tenth song on the 1978 eponymous album. On Rolling Stone the song peaked at position #8 between the 100 greatest Bruce Springsteen's songs.[1] Though not released as a single, it was included on many live albums[2] and on the compilations The Essential Bruce Springsteen (2003) and Greatest Hits (2009). The song seems to be about Louisville, KY, as it mentions "Abram's bridge" (Abraham Lincoln Bridge) and "Fairview" (Fairview street in Louisville). The song is also one of Springsteen's most popular concert songs (tenth position on Springsteen's tour statistics).[3]
