Dario Đumić (Bosnian pronunciation: [dâːrio dʑǔmitɕ]; born 30 January 1992) is a Bosnian professional footballer who plays as a centre back for 2. Bundesliga club Dynamo Dresden, on loan from Utrecht, and the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.
Đumić began his professional career in Norwich City, before moving to Brøndby. In 2016 he joined Dutch side N.E.C. and 18 months later he was transferred to fellow Dutch club Utrecht. The following year, he was loaned to Dynamo Dresden.
A former Danish youth international, Đumić made his senior international debut for Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2017.
Club career
Early career
Đumić started his career in the Roskilde-based club Himmelev-Veddelev.[2]
Đumić joined the Norwich City's academy in June 2008, having previously been with Hvidovre. Later that year, he signed a professional contract with the team. On 10 November 2009, Đumić made his professional debut in an EFL Trophy away game against Swindon Town.[3]
Brøndby
In January 2010, Đumić moved back to Denmark, signing with Brøndby on a free transfer. After first being assigned to the youth team, he was promoted to the first team the following season.[4] On 23 July 2011, he made his official debut in an away win against Silkeborg.[5] Đumić scored his first professional goal on the road against Køge a couple of months later.[6]
N.E.C.
In January 2016 he moved to Dutch club N.E.C. on loan until the end of the season, with an option to make the move permanent.[7] Đumić debuted for NEC in a goalless draw against Groningen on 22 January.[8] In February, the transfer was made permanent, and Đumić signed a contract until June 2019.[9] He scored his first goal for the club against Vitesse on 3 April.[10]
Utrecht
On 10 July 2017 Đumić signed a four-year contract with fellow Dutch side Utrecht for an undisclosed fee, after NEC got relegated.[11] He made his competitive debut for the club on 16 August, in a UEFA Europa League qualifier against Zenit St. Petersburg.[12] Two weeks later, Đumić made his league debut for Utrecht in a 2–1 loss to Groningen.[13]
In search of more minutes, Đumić signed a one-year loan deal with 2. Bundesliga side Dynamo Dresden in June 2018. Loan agreement also included a buy-option.[14]
International career
Đumić came through most of Denmark's youth selections. However, he openly expressed his wish to play for Bosnia and Herzegovina on senior level many times.[15]
In August 2018, FIFA approved Đumić's application to change his sports citizenship from Danish to Bosnian.[16] He received his first senior call-up in March 2017.[17] Subsequently, he debuted for the senior national team on 28 March, in a 2–1 friendly win over Albania.[18] Đumić scored his first goal for Bosnia and Herzegovina in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Belgium on 7 October.[19]
Personal life
Đumić is enrolled at University of Copenhagen, where he studies law.[20]
