Daphne Martschenko

Daphne Martschenko (born in London, November 6, 1992)[1] is an American student athlete. She attended Oakton High School in Fairfax, Virginia, joining the crew team her freshman year.[2] She later attended Stanford University, majoring in Slavic languages and anthropology.[2][3] While at Stanford, she earned two gold medals, one in the NCAA Division I Rowing Championship.[4] She was a competitor at two World Rowing U23 Championships.[1] As of 2018, she is a Ph.D. student at University of Cambridge,[5] and president of the Cambridge University Women's Boat Club.[3]

Early life

Martschenko was born in London to Alex, a U.S. government employee of Ukrainian heritage, and Oluwatoyin ("Toyin"), originally from Nigeria. She has three sisters and lived in Kyrgyzstan and Russia while young.[4][6]
