Danielle Maria Bux (born 15 June 1979) is a Welsh actress and model.[1] She made her modelling début in 1999 winning a place on the Miss Hawaiian Tropic beauty pageant in Las Vegas. She was married to former England footballer Gary Lineker from 2009 until 2016.[2] Bux announced her pregnancy in March 2017 with boyfriend Nate Greenwald. She gave birth to a daughter Romy Wren Greenwald on 8 August 2017 announcing the arrival of her on Instagram. Bux currently resides in Los Angeles with daughters Romy and Ella. Bux also has a sister Yasmine Mohammed.

Early life

Bux was born in Cardiff to Welsh shop workers Kim and Roy. They divorced when she was young[3] and she grew up with her mum, three half-siblings and Palestinian stepfather Syeed "Alex" Mohamed.[4] Her paternal grandfather was an Indian from Bengal and fought for the Indian Army during World War II. She later recalled that she was bullied during her school years because of her part Indian heritage.[5][6] She attended Cantonian High School in Fairwater, Cardiff.[7]

Career

Acting

Danielle Bux made her debut on the stage at the Bristol Hippodrome in Calendar Girls in 2011.[8] In 2013, she appeared in hit BBC One drama Silent Witness, alongside Emilia Fox.[9] The same year she appeared in the film We Are the Freaks, which was played at Edinburgh International Film Festival.[10]

She has also appeared on stage in "Responsible Other", a play by Melanie Spencer.[11]

In 2015 Bux starred in Matt Wilde's football film Kicking Off, alongside co-stars Warren Brown, Greg McHugh and Alistair Petrie.[12] Also in 2015, she starred opposite The X-Files actor David Duchovny in true crime TV series Aquarius.[13]

Modelling

Bux started modelling as a teenager after winning a place in the Miss Hawaiian Tropic contest in Las Vegas, USA. Whilst modelling part-time, she was a flight attendant with Virgin Atlantic. Becoming a full-time model, she has since modelled for brands including La Senza[14] and appeared on the cover of various magazines including Hello!, OK! and Maxim[15] and Fabulous.

TV appearances

She assisted Sir Trevor McDonald onstage at the 2008 National TV Awards. She finished in third place in the 2009 series of ITV's Hell's Kitchen. In June and July 2009 she was a guest panellist on ITV's Loose Women.

Charities

Bux is a patron of wildlife and conservation charity the Born Free Foundation[16][17] and the Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation.[18]
