Daniel Smith (born 20 March 1993) is a professional rugby league footballer who plays as a prop for the Huddersfield Giants in the Super League. He previously played for the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.[3]

Background

Smith was born in Pontefract, West Yorkshire, England. He is the brother of fellow rugby league footballer Cameron Smith.[4]

Smith played at junior level for amateur side Castleford Lock Lane. At the age of 15, he joined the academy at the Leeds Rhinos.[5]

Career

In 2012, Smith was on loan at Oldham,[5] where he made four appearances. He moved to Australia in 2013, where he played for South Sydney Rabbitohs under-20 side.[6] He returned to England at the end of the year, and signed a two-year contract with Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.[7]

In 2014, he regularly appeared for Wakefield Trinity Wildcats as a prop, and he scored two tries in 12 appearances. He also played one game for Featherstone Rovers on dual registration, scoring a try in his only appearance.[8]

In July 2015, Smith was signed by Huddersfield Giants on a four-and-a-half year deal.[6]
