The Dadabhoy Institute of Higher Education (DIHE) Pakistani داداڀوئي انسٽيٽيوٽ آف هائير ايجوڪيشن is an educational institute of Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan, offering undergraduate and postgraduate education. The main campus of DIHE is situated at SNPA - 17/B, Block 3, K.C.H.S. Union Ltd., behind Hill Park General Hospital, Shaheed-e-Millat Road, Karachi, Pakistan. Dadabhoy Institute of Higher Education (DIHE) was set up in the year 2003 by Dadabhoy Foundation. The institute received its charter from the government of Sindh in 2003.

It has been recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Charter Inspection and Evaluation Committee (CIEC) of Education Department Government of Sindh. DIHE ranks as a top grade educational institution and also as a “W” (A) grade educational Institution because of its well designed academic programs, appropriate educational facilities, high class foreign educated PhD faculty and state-of-the-art facilities. DIHE is a degree awarding institution and offers degree programs at Bachelor, Master, MPhil, and PhD levels, under five faculties:

    (Faculty of Science)
    (Faculty of Law)
    (Faculty of Education)

The Faculty of Science has three departments which offer degree programs for BS, BSc, MSc, M.Phil, PhD (Food Science and Technology), BS, BSc, MSc. M.Phil, PhD (Clinical Microbiology and Immunology) and BS, BSc, MSc, M.Phil and PhD (Epidemiology and Public Health).

While DIHE benefits from an excellent academic foundation, it also offers second to none environment that nurtures the overall development of all the students. Some of the activities that are focused on these objectives are: • Remedial English classes • Student grooming classes • An active sports program • Ongoing cultural activities like theatrical programmes, poetic and musical evenings, etc.

(DIHE MISSION STATEMENT) To provide and develop a competitive edge among students, through Quality Education and inspire them with an urge to learn and ambition to build and to prepare them to meet challenges of practical life.

(DIHE’S OBJECTIVES): 1. The Institute will promote continuous quality improvements in teaching, learning, scholarly research, and creative activities. 2. The institute hopes to achieve exemplary undergraduate education based on integrated core curriculum and technology aided teaching – learning process. In addition, the Institute will establish reputed master's degree programs which should enable the students to be leaders in their respective fields and for further education leading to doctorate programs. 3. The Institute will establish strong research programs in Basic & Applied Sciences to strengthen its M. Phil / Ph.D. programs. 4. The Institute will establish international links with reputed institutions of the world. 5. The Institute will make every effort to develop the cultural climate for bringing about a change in the youth of Pakistan for healthy competition and betterment of society, emphasizing at the same time on the development of leadership and collegiality 6. The Institute will develop technology infrastructure and information resources necessary to support the Institute’s programs / services, and research. 7. In near future, DIHE will establish a fully-fledged campus spread over 250 acres of land, housing most of the faculties allocated to the Institutes in the charter, with the student population of between 5 -8 thousand.

FACULTY OF SCIENCE – MISSION • Faculty of Science will enable the students to describe, predict and understand the natural phenomena and use empirical evidences through observations and experimentations in order to use its findings to try to ensure the validity of scientific advances at the local and global level. FACULTY OF SCIENCE –OBJECTIVES: 1. To provide quality academic programs in Science, meeting both local and global education needs. 2. To facilitate the dissemination of knowledge through innovative and effective teaching and learning methodologies 3. To promote continuous quality improvements in teaching, learning, scholarly research and creative activities. 4. To produce competent and versatile graduates guided by high moral and ethical values. 5. To undertake research and development in Food Science, Microbiology and Public Health and to engage in interdisciplinary and collaborative research. 6. To enable the students to work for the improvement of quality of life, protection of the environment and conservation of natural resources. 7. To develop the cultural climate for bringing about a change in the youth of Pakistan for healthy competition and betterment of society, emphasizing at the same time on the development of leadership and collegiality.

(QEC Introduction)

Quality is not an ideal, but a paradigm! And nowhere quality is taken as seriously as it is in Quality Enhancement Cell at Dadabhoy Institute of Higher Education (DIHE).

Quality Enhancement Cell is an integral part of Dadabhoy Institute of Higher Education. Though the quality assurance mechanism was initiated in 2006, yet it was in June 2010 that a full-fledged department by the name of Quality Enhancement Cell was established at DIHE. Since then it has played a very vital role in developing and enhancing the quality of all programs being offered at DIHE, and to compete with counterparts within and across the boundaries. It is also responsible for planning and coordinating self-assessment activities at DIHE, to follow the guidelines of the HEC and to chalk out further action plans for enhancement of quality of programs.

(QEC Vision) To facilitate all departments in making DIHE a synonym for Quality in Higher Education, at national and international level

(QEC Mission)

To assure and enhance the standards of higher education being imparted at DIHE by setting up an exemplary Quality Assurance mechanism that shall be congruent with the national and international practices, in order to elevate DIHE as top class HEI of the world on the basis of its academics, research and institutional excellence.

(QEC Objectives)

1. To promote public confidence that the quality and standards of the award of degrees are enhanced and safeguarded. 2. Review quality standards and the quality of teaching and learning in each subject area. 3. Review academic affiliations with other institutions in terms of effective management of standards and quality of programs. 4. Develop, in collaboration with respective academic teams, the qualifications framework by setting out the attributes and abilities that can be expected from the holder of a qualification, i.e. Bachelors, Bachelor with Honors, Master’s, M. Phil, and Doctoral. 5. Plan & develop quality assurance processes and methods of evaluation to affirm that the quality of provision and the standard of awards are being maintained and to foster curriculum, subject and staff development, together with research and other scholarly activities. 6. Ensure that the university’s quality assurance procedures are designed to fit in with the arrangements in place nationally for maintaining and improving the quality of Higher Education. 7. Plan and conduct capacity building QA training workshops for faculty and staff 8. QEC is responsible to be part of developing policies & procedures for the following:

    d.	Annual monitoring and evaluation including program monitoring, faculty monitoring, and student’s perception.

The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) is headed by Director QEC reporting directly to Vice Chancellor/Rector. S/he is the correspondent with the outside bodies, especially QAA & QAD at Higher Education Commission.
