The D'Assas class was a class of protected cruisers of the French Navy. The class comprised D'Assas, Cassard and Du Chayla.
Design
The ships of the class were 96.14 metres (315 ft 5 in) long, had a beam of 13.67 metres (44 ft 10 in), a draught of 6.25 metres (20 ft 6 in), and had a displacement of 3,962 ton. The ships were equipped with 2 shaft reciprocating engines, which were rated at 10,000 ihp (7,500 kW) and produced a top speed of 20 knots (37 km/h).
The ships had deck armour of 2.8 in (7.1 cm), 4 in (10 cm) conning tower armour and a complement 370 men. The main armament of the ships were six 16 cm (6.3 in) single turret guns. Secondary armament included four single 10 cm (3.9 in) guns and ten 4.7 cm (1.9 in) single guns.
