Cruising is a novel written by New York Times reporter Gerald Walker and published in 1970.[1]

The novel is about an undercover cop looking for a homosexual serial killer in the world of sadomasochism leather gay bars in Greenwich Village, New York. While undercover, he develops feelings for his gay neighbor at the same time he is in a relationship with his girlfriend.

The novel was adapted, with substantial changes to the plot, as the 1980 film of the same title, starring Al Pacino and directed by William Friedkin.[1]
