History

Coworker was founded by Leanne Beesley in 2015. The company provides an online portal that allows users to search for coworking spaces around the globe.[4] As of 2017, the community includes more than 5,000 coworking spaces, 1,400 of which are established in Asia.[5] The team is distributed in Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Bolivia, Canada, France and Australia.[6] In 2017, the company started a booking feature and India made the most number of bookings across the world.[7]

By 2017, the company raised $1 million from angel investors.[4]

The company was described as an “innovation to watch” in the Financial Times in 2015.[7]

The company collaborated with DeskMag, Coworking Africa, Coworking Insights and Venia Business Hub to host the first Nigerian Coworking Conference, held in IMAX Filmhouse, Lagos in 2017.[8]
