Crime in Hungary is combated by the Hungarian police and other agencies.

Murder

In 2016, Hungary had 101 homicides at a rate of 1.02 per 100,000.[1]

General

In 2010, there were an average of 4,000 crimes against every 100,000 members of the population, of which at least 50% were considered serious crimes.[2] AS of 2016 the number of crimes fallen below 3000 per 100 000 [3]

By location

Jozsef Hatala of the National Police (ORFK) stated in 2011 that the criminal underworld is strongest in Budapest and its surrounding counties. The murder rate is spread throughout Hungary. It is lower in the northeast county of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén and the westernmost counties while it is highest in Pest County and Budapest.[4]
