Correios de Cabo Verde (Portuguese for Post of Cape Verde) is the company responsible for postal service in Cape Verde. The company is based in the capital city of Praia with its headquarters located in the east of the Plateau of Praia and located at 2 Rua Cesário de Lacerda.

Next to the post office headquarters is the Federal Supreme Justice building. East of the post office headquarters is Miradouro do Cruzeiro where it offers panoramic views of Praia Harbor the south of Achada Grande, the city's port and Ilhéu de Santa Maria.

To enable delivery at home, the Open Location Code system invented by Google has officially been adopted by the Cape Verdean post, including a system on their website to officially link their home location with personal data at the post office.[2]

History

During Portuguese rule in Cape Verde which lasted up to 1975, all postal services were done by .Correios de Portugal (Portuguese Post) Its first post office was opened in Praia in 1849,[3] later another post office was opened in Mindelo on São Vicente Island.

Under law ono. 9-A/95 made on 16 February 1995, the public company of posts and telecommunications (Empresa Pública dos Correios e Telecomunicaçöes, (CTT-EP) was split into two. The predecessor was founded not long after independence from Portugal in 1975. Before on January 1, 1995, Correios de Cabo Verde was formed, the other may now had become Cabo Verde Telecom.
