Corey Alan Ashe (born March 14, 1986) is a retired American soccer player.

Career

College

Ashe matriculated at the University of North Carolina in 2003 and played four years for the Tar Heels, starting regularly his last three years. He scored 22 goals in four years, including nine as a sophomore. During this period, he also played for the Virginia Beach Submariners in the USL Premier Development League.

Houston Dynamo

Ashe was drafted by Houston Dynamo in the second round of the 2007 MLS SuperDraft, 26th overall. He made his MLS debut in the 2007 season and became a regular substitute off the bench on the left side of midfield. In his first two seasons with the Dynamo, he notched his first and only professional goal and five assists, the goal coming in a game against FC Dallas on May 28, 2008. He started four games in 2009 and came on as a substitute eight times and made two assists. He made his 100th league appearance for the Dynamo on March 25, 2011, in a game against Seattle Sounders FC.[1] Ashe was named to the 2011 MLS All Star Team and played in the All Star Game against Manchester United.

Orlando City

Ashe was acquired by Orlando City on July 14, 2015, in exchange for allocation money and a second round pick in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft.[2]

Columbus Crew SC

Ashe signed with Columbus Crew SC as a free agent on December 18, 2015.[3]

International

Ashe was a standout in the United States' under-17 national team as co-captain of the team from 2001–03. He played in the 2003 U-17 World Championship. He also competed in the 2008 Toulon Tournament, playing in every game. Ashe was called up to the United States national team squad for friendlies against Belgium and Germany in May and June 2013, but was forced to withdraw due to injury. He was subsequently selected as a member of the 23-man United States squad for the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup, which the United States won. Ashe did not make any appearances.
