Coonamia railway station is located on the Adelaide-Port Augusta line at Coonamia on the outskirts of Port Pirie.

History

Coonamia station opened when the main Port Pirie station was bypassed. This eliminated the need for through services to have to change direction. The station has no platform with just a basic waiting shelter. It is located on the Adelaide-Port Augusta line, about three kilometres east of the city centre.[1] The Indian Pacific was diverted from 16 August 1986.[2]

Great Southern Rail's The Ghan and Indian Pacific services pass Coonamia on the Adelaide-Port Augusta railway line but do not stop at the station.[3][4]
