Founding

College of Our Lady Mediatrix was founded in 1957 by Fr. Oswaldo Gomes, S.J., on land donated by the city of Curitiba with the help of Governor Bento Munhoz da Rocha. The cornerstone was brought from the former Jesuit college of Paranaguá, which now houses the Museum of the Federal University of Paraná on the coast.

Academics

In addition to regular classes each student does personal and collective research in an transdisciplinary way from the 6th year of elementary school to 2nd year of high school, going through progressive stages in research projects. At the end of sophomore high the research is presented to a panel of teachers and later to family and community at a Knowledge Fair.

Medianeira participates in a distance education program, offering 15 advanced courses through the Jesuit Unisinos University.[1] The College is also a center for Talken classes in English.[2]

The Arts Centre has workshops in visual arts, film, and photography, a book club, a theatre group, and teaches dance and guitar. as extracurricular activities. The year culminates with a week of cultural and artistic activities for students, parents, and staff for the Feast of the Mediatrix.[4]
