Claude Haldi

Claude Haldi (28 November 1942 – 25 December 2017) was a Lausanne Swiss racing driver.[1]

Career

Claude Haldi's name is closely connected with the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in which he participated twenty-two times between 1968 and 1993. He competed mostly driving Porsches. He placed eleventh in 1979 at the wheel of a Porsche 935 with Herbert Loewe and Rodrigo Terran, a twelfth in 1986 with the WM-Peugeot teamed up with Roger Dorchy and Pascal Pessiot, and won the GTX class in 1975 with a Porsche 911 Carrera Turbo, backed by Bernard Béguin and Peter Zbinden. Haldi also distinguished himself in other great endurance events, triumphing in GT in 1970 with Gérard Larrousse and Helmut Marko in the Nürburgring Eighty-four Hours, at the 1000 km of Spa in 1970 and 1975 respectively with Bernard Cheneviére and Bernard Beguin In Hill Climb, Haldi was crowned European Mountain Champion in GT in 1970 with his Porsche 911 S and he was also crowned Swiss Rally Champion in 1979, also winning the Costa Brava Rally in 1974 and the race in Lugano in 1975 with a Porsche Carrera[2].
