Clarence Glover (born November 1, 1947) is a retired American National Basketball Association (NBA) basketball player, who played from 1971 to 1973. Glover was listed at 6'8" and 210 lb.[1]

Born in Horse Cave, Kentucky, he led the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers to the NCAA Final Four in 1971. The Hilltoppers eventually lost to the Villanova Wildcats 92-89 in double overtime. Glover was drafted #10 in the 1971 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics. He was #28 in the NBA and averaged 2.0 ppg in 3.3 mpg.

Cutlural Relevance

The 1971 Western Kentucky Hilltoppers NCAA Final-4 basketball team was the first Kentucky collegiate basketball team to start five African-American players. Coach John Oldham started Glover, Jim McDaniels, Jim Rose, Jerry Dunn and Rex Bailey. McDaniels had recruited Glover and the others after signing at WKU. Oldam was pressured not to start all five together, but said "they are my best five players."[2]

Honors

Glover was inducted into the Western Kentucky Athletics Hall of Fame in 2007.[3]

Personal

Following his basketball career, Glover had a career in Education and coaching and has served on numerous higher education boards and is the namesake of the Clarence Glover Scholarship Fund at WKU. [4][5][6]
