Claremont Square
Claremont Square is a square and reservoir on Pentonville Road in the London Borough of Islington.
History
The New River Company constructed the reservoir as Upper Pond in 1709. The Upper Pond was demolished in 1855 and replaced by the current covered brick reservoir, which was Grade II listed in 2000. The reservoir is still in use and is now supplied by the Thames Water Ring Main.
The square was developed between 1821 and 1828 and retains its original railings.
TV and Film
In the Harry Potter film series it features the square as 12 Grimmauld Place.
