Cirrothauma is a genus of deep water octopuses from the cirrate family Cirroteuthidae. The species of Cirrothauma are These are fragile, gelatinous deep-sea octopods which have a shell with a moderate saddle and triangular wings. Their eyes are either normal and have lenses, Cirrothauma murrayi or they are reduced eyes and do not have lenses, Cirrothauma magna. The two species were placed in Cirrothauma because they have similar shells.[2] These octopuses have been reported from all the world's oceans, except for the Southern Ocean.[3]
