Christl Ann Donnelly FRS FMedSci CBE[2] is a professor of Statistical Epidemiology at Imperial College London.[4]

Education

Donnelly was educated at Oberlin College in Ohio, where she was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree, and at Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, where in 1992 she was awarded Master of Science and Doctor of Science[5] degrees in biostatistics.[1]

Research

Donnelly's research investigates statistical and biomathematical methods to analyse epidemiological patterns of infectious diseases such as Influenza A virus subtype H1N1[6] and Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS),[7] Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), the Ebola virus disease,[8] zoonoses and HIV.[9] She has interests in ecology, conservation, and animal welfare[4] having worked on Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE)[10] and Foot-and-mouth disease[11] in cattle, bovine tuberculosis and policies regarding badger culling in the United Kingdom.[12][13]

Awards and honours

Donnelly was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS) in 2016[2] and a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences (FMedSci) in 2015.[3] She was appointed Commander of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2018 New Year Honours.[14]
