Chimelong International Ocean Tourist Resort

Chimelong International Ocean Tourist Resort is a theme park resort that currently consists of one theme park, one circus act and three themed hotels. The resort is located at Hengqin, Zhuhai, China.

Chimelong Ocean Kingdom

Chimelong Ocean Kingdom, the first theme park, designed by PGAV destinations, soft opened in January 2014 and officially opened in March 2014.

Wild Kingdom, a second gate at the resort featuring day time and night time safari components centered around live animals, with master design by Dan Pearlman.[1]

International Circus City

Chimelong Hengqin International Circus City houses a circus act and it performs at the resort every evening.

Hotels

Chimelong Hengqin Bay Hotel

There are three hotels on site:

  • Chimelong Hengqin Bay Hotel – 1,888-room hotel. Chimelong Hengqin Bay Hotel was awarded the World’s Leading Themed Hotel in the 2015 World Travel Awards (WTA).[2]
  • Chimelong Circus Hotel – 700-room hotel. Opened on 19 February 2015.

  • Chimelong Penguin Hotel – 2,000-room hotel with "Emperor Penguin Cafeteria" that enables guests to enjoy meals while observing penguins in proximity. Opened on 19 February 2015.[3]

Future

Three more amusement facilities at Chimelong International Ocean Resort on Hengqin officially started on 14 January 2015. The new construction projects include a 300-hectare ‘animal kingdom’, an indoor amusement park and a 5,000-seat circus.[4] On 4 December 2015, the Zhuhai municipal government and Chimelong Group signed a new investment agreement, covering construction of another four theme parks in Zhuhai, including Animal Kingdom, Ocean Adventure Park, Water Park and Future World Science and Technology Theme Park, with a total investment of over 50 billion yuan.[5] Construction started on the four new theme parks on 25 January 2016. Chimelong expects visitation at its Chimelong International Ocean Resort to increase to over 50 million annually once all five theme parks are operating.[6]
