The Chief of Staff to the Secretary of State is the coordinator of the supporting staff and primary aide to the United States Secretary of State.[1][2] The current position of Chief of Staff is vacant since March 31, 2018, following the resignation of Margaret Peterlin, who was appointed by former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.[3][4][5][6]
