Chelsy Yvonne Davy (born 13 October 1985) is a Zimbabwean businesswoman and a former girlfriend of Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, whom she dated from 2004 to 2011.[2]

Early life

Chelsy Davy was born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, to Charles Davy, a South African safari farmer, and Beverley Donald Davy, a former Coca-Cola model and Miss Rhodesia 1973.[1] She has a younger brother, Shaun,[3] and grew up at her family's homestead in the Lemco Safari Area.[4][4][5]

Her father Charles is one of the largest private landowners in Zimbabwe, and is reported to own 800,000 acres (320,000 ha) of land.[6] He maintained business ties with controversial politician Webster Shamu,[7] of whom he has said, "I am in partnership with a person who I personally like and get along with. I am not involved in politics in any way."[8][9] After being criticised by the press, however, Charles Davy sold his share in the business.[10]

Career

Work in law firms

Davy was briefly educated at Cheltenham College (not Cheltenham Ladies' College as has been widely reported), before moving to Stowe School in Buckinghamshire.[11]

Davy received a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Cape Town in 2006, and a law degree (LLB) from Leeds University in 2009.[10][12] In September 2011, Davy began work as a trainee solicitor at London law firm Allen & Overy.[13] In late 2014, however, Davy decided to quit her position at the firm.[12]

Jewellery brand Aya

After studying at Gemological Institute of America, Davy started a jewellery brand, Aya, in July 2016.[14][15]

Relationship with Prince Harry

Davy had what the press described as a "turbulent" relationship with Prince Harry, the younger son of the Prince of Wales and Diana, Princess of Wales. The pair met in early 2004 while Davy was a boarder at Stowe School, and were an on-again, off-again couple, until May 2010.[16] Davy announced the end of the relationship on Facebook.[13][17]

In 2011, addressing rumours of a possible reconciliation, Prince Harry publicly professed himself "100 per cent single," and Chelsy, who attended the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton on 29 April 2011, stated that she would not marry Prince Harry due to rising incompatibility of life choices in the relationship.[18][19]

In May 2018, Davy was a guest at Prince Harry's wedding to Meghan Markle.[20][21]
