Charles Phillip Lantz (December 14, 1884 – May 6, 1962)[1] was the sixth head football coach at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois and he held that position for 24 seasons, from 1911 until 1944, with breaks in 1918 and from 1935 to 1943. During the times when Lantz was not coaching, the team was either coached by Winfield Angus, Gilbert Carson, or the school did not field a team.

Lantz's career coaching record at Eastern Illinois was 94–66–13.[2] In 1967, the Lantz Arena complex was opened and named in his honor.
