He was a member of the great Kent County Cricket Club team of the 1840s and also played for Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC). Harenc was an amateur player who began his first-class cricket career at Oxford University. Harenc born in 1811 at Foots Cray in Kent and was educated at Harrow School, where he captained the cricket team, and Christ Church, Oxford. He made his known cricket debut in the 1830 season and had 56 known appearances in first-class matches from then until the 1849 season.[1] He scored 828 runs, with an average of 9.51 runs and was a successful bowler with a known tally of 130 wickets and a best performance of eight wickets in an innings. He twice took ten wickets in a match.[2]

Harenc died in December 1877 at Bedford aged 66. Three of his brothers, Henry, Edward and Archibald, also made appearances in first-class cricket.[2]
