Charles B. Wessler

Charles B. Wessler (born May 16, 1955) is an American film producer[1] best known for his collaborations with the Farrelly brothers.

Life and career

Charles Wessler was born in Los Angeles, California, to Richard Wessler and Ruth Wessler. Growing up he lived in Encino, London and Beverly Hills. He spent four years in Israel before returning to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the film industry.

Wessler's first job was as a production assistant on the film Can I Do It... 'Til I Need Glasses? He was a production assistant for George Lucas on The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

Wessler spent time working at The Ladd Company for Alan Ladd, Jr. and at Zoetrope Studios with Francis Ford Coppola. He soon moved on to produce specials for HBO where he hired Peter Farrelly and Bennett Yellen to write a script for the 1987 special, Paul Reiser Out on a Whim. Wessler, Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly went on to develop several scripts together. The first feature film they brought to the screen was Dumb and Dumber for New Line Cinema.

Wessler's other producing credits include It's Pat, Bushwhacked, There's Something About Mary, Me, Myself & Irene, Shallow Hal, Stuck on You and The Heartbreak Kid. His 2011/2012 film projects included Hall Pass for New Line/Warner Bros., Movie 43 for Relativity Media, The Three Stooges (2012), Dumb and Dumber To (2014) and "Green Book" set for release November 21, 2018 [2].

Wessler divides his time between his farm in the New York Hudson Valley and Los Angeles.

He was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for producing There's Something About Mary.
