Charan Waghmare is a member of the 13th Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. He represents the Tumsar Assembly Constituency. He belongs to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)[1] In 2012, Waghmare was chairman of finance and works committee of Bhandara Zilla Parishad.[2] In 2014 he was president of Bhandara district BJP.[3]
Controversy
Waghmare was chairman of works committee of Bhandara Zilla Parishad (BZP) between June–July 2010 to January 2013. As chairman he was entitled to reimbursement of rent for the period of his chairmanship. According to a news story in Nagpur Today, Waghmare showed that he was a tenant in his wife's house and claimed rent of Rs. 4500 per month from the BZP. A rent agreement was drawn between the chief officer of the BZP and Waghmare's wife Vijayshree Waghmare for the purpose. Waghmare was paid a total of Rs. 1,40,000.[4]
