Chantelle Barry (born 7 December 1973) is an Australian singer-songwriter and actress from Perth, best known for being in the original line-up of girl group Bardot. She left the group suddenly, only weeks after the group was formed on the first series of the Australian version of Popstars.

Career

Barry was asked to resign from the girl group Bardot after stealing money from Sophie Monk, but the reason for her departure was not revealed at the time.[1] She first confirmed the circumstances around this event in a 2006 appearance on the TV show Where Are They Now?. In a 2017 Woman’s Day interview, Barry stated she was paid $1000 to leave the group and to stay silent on the matter at the time, leading to the widespread speculation over her firing, and blamed it on her youth and naivety.[2] She was replaced by Tiffani Wood in the final line-up.

After leaving Australia, Barry appeared in independent films and in small roles on the television series Water Rats, General Hospital, Entourage and How I Met Your Mother.[3] She also placed third in the Song of the Year songwriting contest[4] and reached the quarter-finals in the Music Nation online music competition.[5] Barry also appeared in two pictorials for FHM, one in the months after leaving Bardot and another in 2007.[4]

Barry played the recurring role of Nina, a friend of main character Naomi Clark on the television series 90210.[5][6] In August 2009, she officially launched her debut solo album Simple Things in the U.S., followed by albums Songbird in 2012, and more recently, Lovers Gonna Love in 2018.

Barry has recent acting credits as the character of "Tri" in Miss 2059 and "Ava Thorne" in the Oculus Rift video game Edge of Nowhere [7], in 2016. Barry also did voice work for Agents of Mayhem in 2017, and is credited in 2018 as the voice of the "Narrator" in an episode of the Netflix series Disjointed, as well as portraying the character of "Patrice Jansen" on NCIS (TV Series), and the voice of the character "Chloe" in Metal Gear Survive.

Barry most recently took on the challenge of bringing the Valiant Comics character "Roku" to life; the main antagonist of the highly popular Ninjak vs. the Valiant Universe live-action miniseries, produced by Bat in the Sun. [8]
