Central High School is a public magnet high school, located in the Walker Mill census-designated place in unincorporated Prince George's County, Maryland, with a Capitol Heights mailing address.[1][2] The school is part of the Prince George's County Public Schools system. The school hosts the county's only high school-level French Immersion magnet program, as well as an International Baccalaureate (IB) magnet program. The school also has AVID. The principal is Keishia Wallace. The approximate enrollment, as of September 2018, it is 1,100 students in grades nine through twelve. The school hours are from 7:25am to 2:25pm. The school operates on an alternating A/B-Day Block Schedule. Central has a mandatory uniform policy in effect.
The School is head by Principal, Keishia Wallace and her Second in Command, Dr. Raymond Miller 10th Grade Administrator. Follwing, them is Mr. Keith Davenport 11th Grade Administrator, Ms. Lisa Faulkner-Jones 12th Grade Administrator and Mr. James Spence 9th Grade Administrator.
Central High serves:[3] most of Walker Mill,[1] a section of the Town of Capitol Heights,[4][5] a section of the City of Seat Pleasant,[6] most of Peppermill Village CDP,[7] and a portion of Summerfield CDP.[8]
History
Central High School was Founded in 1961.
In 2010, Central was named one of the top schools in America, under the leadership of Mr. Fletcher James and Assistant Principal, Ms. Mary Compton
Central High School, for many years, has been fighting for the rebuilding of the school. The County Plans to Rebuild the building in the following years to come.
