History

In the end of 1918, the Cultural-Educational Department of the Association of Consumer Societies of Azerbaijan decided to open a public library - a good deal for the people of Azerbaijan. This was the best work of the consumer society. But it is not too easy to overcome the Azerbaijani library. Since there was no perfect publication in Azerbaijan so far, it was not possible to find literature for the library, particularly for the Azerbaijani language literature for the mass library. At that time, teachers and intellectuals had some books collected in different ways. They were kept in their own libraries. After many difficulties, some of them gave more money than the book's value, and some of them were able to buy a lot of books. The Caspian Communities Consumer Union opened its first public library in Azerbaijan at the expense of its shareholders. In the first years of the library, there were several hundred books and a very small number of readers. The books in the library consisted of books dedicated to Islamic history and old topics published by Orujov brothers in Arabic and Persian languages.

Mirza Alekper Sabir was named as the 10th anniversary of Sabir's death in order to introduce 1200 volumes of the library to the public. Thus, the official opening of the library was shown in the documents as of March 1919.

In the early days of 1920, the library was placed on the second floor of the building No. 13, located in Azizbekov Street. Since then, the library operates in this building. When the library moved to a new building, its book fund consisted of Turkish, Arabic and Persian literature.

The great care and noble initiative of N.Narimanov, D.Bunyadzade, A.Hagverdiyev, Y.V.Chemanzaminli, M.Ordubadi and other statesmen played a great role in the establishment of this cultural center. In these difficult times, these human-minded people have found time and have sought to exploit the culture centers for the people and have achieved their goals.

Starting in 1920 Sabir Library has the opportunity to expand its activities. Ten years later, in 1929, the library fund had 12300 copies, and the number of readers was 4,000. Literature, controversies, literary judgments are used by the library to attract readers to the library and to spread good books in the crowd. As a result, hundreds of new readers came to the library. In 1922, the "Library of Woman Readers" association was also abolished to bring Azerbaijani women to the library.

The library has organized public-political, literary and scientific presentations according to the readers' demand. Sabir Library, which is committed to paying a duty to educate cadres in cultural and educational institutions, has a prominent role in preparing specialists for libraries of the republic. Until 1938, librarians did not have a special school to prepare library staff, and their first experience was spent in the library named after M.A. Sabir.

The success of Sabir's library was closely tied to the correct construction of its report. The library has become a real mass library by providing scientific, mass-political and artistic works in Azerbaijani, Russian languages. The library began to expand and improve its fund with the best books. In the library, there were Azerbaijani and Russian abonomer, reading room, bookkeeping, mobile and bibliographic departments.

Sabir's library has tried to solve every issue daily and to distribute books to the masses. A literary association was organized in the library to learn more about the books. Among the active readers of the library, prominent artists such as A.Hagverdiyev, J.Jabbarly, A.Shaig and M.Ordubadi led literary youth. (Later headed by Musa Alakbarli and Gasham Najafzadeh).

The first bibliographical department among libraries in Azerbaijan was created in 1941 in this library.

The Central City Library named after M.A. Sabir was named the "Best Library of the Year" in 2014. After a few years, the Central City Library named after M.A. Sabir will be 100 years old, with a great history, which preserves the history of Azerbaijan, its literature, and educates many scholars and intellectuals.

Architecture

Malikov's two-story house is one of the important elements of an architectural-planning solution for historical towns. [2] This home has been successfully used by the rich rubber red bricks order system, a new construction material that is of great importance to the aesthetic quality of the building. The main façade is distinguished by the special compositional techniques that give rise to the impulsive expression of the form of the architectural mass of the stone form with the rhizalite system. The building creates an environmentally friendly connection through the balance of classical forms in terms of plastic balance.
