Cenicientos (Spanish pronunciation: [θeniˈθjentos]) is a municipality of the autonomous community of Madrid in central Spain. It is the westernmost municipality in the Community of Madrid.
History
The origin of Ashen there is the one who relates it to the Written Stone, megalithic monument in honor to the goddess Diana dated between the IInd and IVth centuries A.D., supposedly of Roman origin, it consists of a big rock of 5 m granite. of height and 4 of circumference, although well it is true that this stone up to the date is a puzzler, and only speculations exist on her.Others think that the origin of the people is a visigoth. although of the epoch visigoda only witness is a necropolis excavated in granite near to the town, and in the same environment of the Written Stone.Ashen it was not founded as such, even after the Reconquest, by Alfonso VI in the XIth century, being in the year 1188 when for the first time one refers to "The Rock of Ashen" and there consists the authorization of the Archbishop of Toledo to found the Church in Ashen.
