Catherine Cusset (born in Paris in 1963) is a French novelist and the author of The Story of Jane (Simon and Schuster, 2001)[1][2] and twelve other novels published by Éditions Gallimard between 1990 and 2018.[3] Her work has been largely collected by libraries.[4] She's a graduate of the École Normale Supérieure in Paris and holds a Ph.D in Paris on the Marquis de Sade and another one at Yale University on the eighteenth-century libertine novel.

She was an assistant and associate professor in 18th-century French literature at Yale University between 1991 and 2002. She lives in the United States.

Her work has been translated into 17 languages.

Awards

Her novel Le problème avec Jane received the Grand Prix littéraire des lectrices d’Elle in 2000,[5] and her novel Un brillant avenir was awarded the Prix Goncourt des Lycéens in 2008.[6] Her novel L'autre qu'on adorait was a finalist for the Prix Goncourt 2016. Her novel Vie de David Hockney received the Prix Anaïs Nin 2018.
