Casey Rabach

Baltimore Ravens

Rabach was drafted in the third round of the 2001 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens. By the 2003 season he was the starting center for the team.

Washington Redskins

Before the 2005 NFL season, Rabach left Baltimore as a free agent for the Washington Redskins.^[1] He immediately became the starting center for the Redskins in the second year of Joe Gibbs' return as head coach. Rabach replaced Cory Raymer. That year, he started all 16 games and Washington had a 10-6 record with Mark Brunell at quarterback and beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a wild card game of the 2005-06 NFL playoffs before losing to the Seattle Seahawks in the divisional round. Since then, he returned to the playoffs only once, in the 2007-08 NFL playoffs, with Gibbs as head coach and Jason Campbell as the starting quarterback in the regular season. In 2008, they lost to the Seattle Seahawks with Todd Collins replacing Campbell in a wild card game.

Overall, Rabach started 79 of 80 regular season games and 3 post-season games since joining the Redskins. Rabach signed a three-year contract with them on March, 2010, worth $12.3 million. He is the longest incumbent at starting center of the Redskins since Jeff Bostic, who maintained his position from 1981 to 1993, and before him Len Hauss from 1964 to 1977.

On July 28, 2011, he was released.

Attempted Return to the Baltimore Ravens

In the 2011 offseason, it was reported that the Baltimore Ravens had re-signed Case Rabach to add center depth behind the aging Matt Birk. However, Rabach failed his physical, so could not sign. The Ravens ended up bringing former Pro Bowler Andre Gurode to back up Birk. ^[2]
