Carvalho

Carvalho or De Carvalho(Portuguese pronunciation: [kɐɾˈvaʎu]), meaning 'oak', is a Portuguese surname, also sometimes used as a Sephardic Jewish surname[1] as well as by families with genetic Norman descent.[2].
The surname is most popular in Portugal, Brazil, Galicia (although in Galicia it may be spelled "Carbajal" or 'Carvallo' or 'Carballo'), the former Portuguese African colonies (Angola, Mozambique, etc.) and people from the State of Goa in India as well as from Vasai, a town to the north of Mumbai in India.
Y DNA
There are at least two Y DNA lineages attached to this last name. One is Haplogroup I-M253 Z140 lineage, with Norman ancestry and the second is a Haplogroup J (Y-DNA) J1-CTS5332 Cluster C possibly of the Sephardic ancestry[3].
