Carolyn Waugh Burns is a New Zealand ecologist specialising in lakes. She is an emeritus professor at the University of Otago.[1]

Career

Burns studied zoology at the University of Canterbury[2] and completed a PhD at the University of Toronto entitled 'The feeding behaviour of Daphnia under natural conditions' in 1966 before moving to University of Otago, where she rose to professor before her retirement.

In 2017 Burns won a Marsden Medal[3][4] and is Convenor of the 'Ecology, Evolution and Behaviour' panel for the Marsden Fund.[5]
