Tiivel was crowned Miss Universe Australia 2016 on 31 August 2016[1] and represented Australia at Miss Universe 2016.

Tiivel represented Australia at Miss Universe 2016 but failed to place in the Top 13. This is the second time that Australia has failed to place in the semifinals since 2008. The first time was three years earlier when Olivia Wells failed to place in Miss Universe 2013.
