Captain Underpants and the Preposterous Plight of the Purple Potty People is the eighth book in the Captain Underpants series by Dav Pilkey.[1] It was published on August 15, 2006, two years and eleven months after the previous book.

Plot summary

George, Harold and their pets have ended up in an alternate universe, where Melvin is a doofus who is struggling to comprehend a simple children's book, Mr. Krupp is nice and has a sense of humor, and the school is a overall welcoming place to learn and have fun in. There, Sulu and Crackers are also kidnapped by the boys' evil counterparts and are hypnotized to be evil, too, but Crackers saves the boys. The heroes finally get back, but end up bringing the flipped versions with them. Due to it being Grandparents Day, the original boys have to eat dinner at George's, while the evil versions rummage through the tree house, soon making Sulu a giant monster. On Crackers' back, the original boys fly to the real Mr. Krupp's house and immediately turn him into Captain Underpants, who defeats the "Giant-Evil Sulu". The snap turns Captain Blunderpants (Captain Underpants' evil counterpart) back into the nice Mr. Krupp and Captain Underpants ties them up, but a rainstorm turns the nice Mr. Krupp back and the flip the same way, and the real Mr. Krupp storms off back home.

George's great-grandmother and Harold's grandfather arrive and, having drunk the rest of the power juice, they become Boxer Boy and Great-Granny Girdle, two of the boys' characters. They defeat Captain Blunderpants, but the evil boys try to shrink the heroes, only to be tricked into shrinking themselves. Sulu is shrunk and turned good again, while Captain Blunderpants and the evil boys are taken back to their universe. However, police comes to arrest them, thinking they are bank robbers. But then a giant pair of pants appears, inside whose revealed to be "Tippy Tinkletrousers", and who freezes the cops, then chases the boys and their pets...

Comic 1: The Preposterous Plight of Captain Blunderpants (by evil Harold and George)

The alternative boys hypnotize Mr. Krupp into Captain Blunderpants to steal things for them. One day, he is chased by an angry cop for stealing pizza and accidentally eats a mixture of foods which give him superpowers. He flies to the evil twins their pizza. From that point, Nice Mr. Krupp turns into Captain Blunderpants by getting his head wet and de-hypnotized by the snap of a finger.

Comic 2: Adventures of Boxer Boy and Great Granny Girdle (by the real George and Harold)

One day, a UFO lands on Earth and opens a store that trades improved Robo-Grandparents for Real Grandparents, which everyone but George and Harold does. One day, their grandparents find the others inside a "slaves room" in the store, along with super power candies, which they end up eating and then they become Boxer Boy and Great Granny Girdle, who chases the bad guys into the UFO. Boxer Boy turns the UFO into the shape of the candy, causing one Robot to bite the fuel line, and the explosion kills all the bad guys. The boys' Grandparents fly back and sets the kidnapped grandparents free.
