Cal Jet Air LLC. d/b/a Cal Jet Elite, is a United States airline business headquartered in Carlsbad, California.[1][2] Cal Jet Elite started in December 2015. On August 16th, 2017 Cal Jet announced that the Carlsbad McClellan-Palomar Airport would be their home/hub, announcing daily non-stop service to Las Vegas's McCarran International Airport through a partnership with Elite Airways unveiling a new brand called Cal Jet by Elite Airways. History

Initial Service

On August 16, 2017, Cal Jet announced daily nonstop service from Carlsbad, California to Las Vegas, Nevada, with service starting September 28, 2017. Cal Jet by Elite Airways initially operated two flights daily, departing from McClellan-Palomar Airport at 9:00AM and 12:45PM. With return flights from Las Vegas McCarran International Airport at 11:00AM and 2:45PM. This is the first commercial service from the McClellan-Palomar Airport in over two years. Cal Jet by Elite Airways operates these flights using a Bombardier CRJ700, with 7-14 Business Class seats, and 56 Economy seats. The inaugural flight was at 9AM local time, September 28, 2017 from the Carlsbad McClellan-Palomar Airport to Las Vegas McCarran International Airport. Tickets went on sale via Cal Jet's website on August 16, 2017 with one-way fares starting at $69. [6] [7] [8]

Cancellations and Reduction in Service

On February 15, 2018, Cal Jet cancelled all flights, leaving many travelers stranded when they dedicated their plane to NCAA operations. Cal Jet stated that they would resume service on February 27[9], but they did not resume until March 2, with substantial delays following.

In March 2018, Cal Jet reduced service from 14 round trips per week to 9.

In mid-April 2018, Cal Jet cancelled all flights, leaving many travelers stranded in an event similar to the February cancellation period, and reducing the confidence of San Diego travelers in the reliability and viability of the airline. [10] It is unclear if the airline will resume service or if travelers issued vouchers will be able to use them [11] As of September 1, 2018, Cal Jet has not resumed service, and the Cal Jet website does not show any flights available.[12]

The cabin of Cal Jet's CRJ-700 aircraft are arranged in a two class configuration separated by a curtain. Seating is the same for business and economy, but business occupies the first rows of the plane[13]. Business class passengers receive complimentary snacks and alcoholic beverages.

Management

President: George Wozniak. His previous venture, Minnesota-based Hobbit Travel, closed in 2010.[14] [15]. George Wozniak was a defendant in a lawsuit by Travelzoo, in which Travelzoo alleged that George Wozniak et al had sold nonexistant vacation packages through the Travelzoo website [16] [17]. Defendants George Wozniak et al settled the suit in 2018 for $95,000[18].

Vice President: Timothy "Timmy" Wozniak, son of George Wozniak. He was the founder of Fresh Jets, a private jet service based in Denver. In 2016, he was accused of opening credit cards using customers' identities.[19]. In December 2017, he pled guilty to charges of fraud and identity theft[20]. Timmy Wozniak was also a defendant in the Travelzoo case.
