CCTV-14 is a children's channel in the People's Republic of China which launched on 28 December 2003 & is owned by China Central Television. It airs cartoons such as SpongeBob SquarePants and other cartoon programs broadcast as well as children's game shows and other children's programs.

Before it separated from CCTV-7 in 2003, CCTV children's programs were available on CCTV-7. After CCTV-14 was launched, all children's programmes on CCTV-7 were moved to CCTV-14. CCTV-7 doesn't broadcast children's programs any longer and on Singtel TV Pay TV Customers in Singapore Channel 554 in SD will be coming soon.

History

Test transmissions were started on December 8, 2003.

The channel first broadcast on December 10, 2003 with a broadcast length of 16 hours.

CCTV-14 was formally launched on December 28, 2003 as CCTV-Children and was spilt from CCTV-7.

Starting January 1, 2011 CCTV-Children became CCTV-14, forming a new logo "CCTV-14 少儿".

From 2013 onwards, CCTV-14 has carried CCTV New Year's Gala.

Transmission hours

CCTV-14's official transmission hours are from nearly 06:00 [1] until around 2AM BJT[2] for about 20 hours daily and on public holidays.
