C. Kyle Ranson

Kyle C. Ranson was the President and CEO of InFocus [1] headquartered in Wilsonville, Oregon, until May, 2007. Kyle had been with InFocus since April 2003 originally hired as the Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing,[2] the same title he held at Compaq/Hewlett Packard just months before. Ranson also held executive and other positions at Newberry Data, and Vickers Defense.[3]

Career

Prior to working with the people at InFocus, Kyle Ranson had experience with projectors at his position with Compaq.[4] He had helped the company get into the projector market and compete with the industry leader InFocus.

The team at InFocus originally decided to hire Ranson mainly because they wanted to shift from an emphasis on innovation to marketing of products in the competitive world of digital projectors. Chairman John Harker explained that Ransons international experience and his understanding of markets and technologies would help drive the company back to profitability.[3]

In August 2004 InFocus announced that Ranson who was President and Chief Operation Officer would be the next CEO and a member of the board of directors. He would replace of former Chief Executive Officer and Chairman John Harker who had led the company since 1992, however Harker would continue in the role of Chairman.[1]

On May 16, 2007, InFocus announced that Ranson would be leaving the company to pursue other interests. Ranson also resigned from the company's Board of Directors.[5]

Later career

Showers Pass was founded by Dave Morrow in 1997[6] In 2005 Ed Dalton, purchased the company. In 2008 Ranson invested in Showers Pass and became co-president.[7] Ranson had met Dalton on a cycling tour of in Oregon and decided Dalton would bring his prior experiences to foster a new approach.[8] In 2012 Dalton sold out to Ranson[7] The company is headquartered in Portland, Oregon with Ranson as the CEO. In May 2013 the company also established a United Kingdom headquarter with brother Fraser Ranson joining the company as head of UK operations.[9]

Personal life

Kyle was born in Newcastle, England (1962?) and graduated from Brunel University in 1985 with a BA Design and Technology.[8]

Kyle Ranson has also been a Trustee of the Oregon chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and has been involved in and taken part in Bikes MS150 fundraising bike rides,[10] In 2015 the National Multiple Sclerosis Society announced the Showers Pass would provide an annual sponsorship to improve life for those suffering from MS and contribute to the search for a cure.[11]
