Butler Island (Georgia)

Butler Island is a river island in Ware County, in the U.S. state of Georgia.[1]

Butler Island was named after its original owner, Pierce Butler (1744–1822) a U.S. Senator and Founding Father from South Carolina.[2] Pierce Butler's Butler Island Plantation once occupied the entire island, where he kept hundreds of slaves.[3]
