Jeffrey Alan "Buddy" Boshers (born May 9, 1988) is an American professional baseball pitcher who is currently a free agent. He made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut in 2013 with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and has also played for the Minnesota Twins.

Early life

A native of Huntsville, Alabama, Boshers is a graduate of Lee High School in Alabama.[1][2] He attended Calhoun Community College.[3]

Career

Los Angeles Angels

Boshers was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the fourth round of the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft.[1][2] Boshers was called up to the majors for the first time on August 10, 2013.[4] In 2013, he was 0–0 with a 4.70 ERA in 25 games.[3] Boshers did not get called up to the majors in 2014, instead he split time between Double A and the AAA level of the Angels.

Colorado Rockies

Boshers signed a minor league deal with the Colorado Rockies on December 5, 2014[5] and was invited to spring training, but was released on March 18, 2015.

Somerset Patriots

He spent 2015 with the Somerset Patriots of the Independent Atlantic League.[3]

Minnesota Twins

He signed a minor league deal with the Minnesota Twins in December 2015. Boshers was called up to the Majors on May 25, 2016, and for the year was 2–0 with a 4.25 ERA in 36 innings.[3] In 2017 he began the season pitching for the AAA Rochester Red Wings of the International League.[6] The Twins designated him for assignment on January 15, 2018.[7]

Houston Astros

He was claimed off waivers by the Houston Astros on January 22, 2018.[8] Boshers started the 2018 season with the Astros' AAA team, the Fresno Grizzlies, where he had 41 relief appearances.

Pittsburgh Pirates

On August 7, 2018, he was claimed off waivers by the Pirates. [9] He elected free agency on October 2, 2018.[10]
