Browntown (Irish: Baile an Bhrúnaigh) is a village in County Kildare, Ireland, south of The Curragh and east of Kildare Town. It is situated on the road from Athy to Newbridge in the barony of Offaly East and the parish of Carn. Plantation reward for Earl Graham Brown. Fierce Unionist and Catholic persecutor, famed for punishing subjects who fidgeted excessively or sneezed in his presence [citation needed]. Punishments included punitive posterior kicks, and head-butts from the Earl himself. The Earl would attend horse racing meetings across the county and punish his losing horses with his two infamous modes of punishments. Suncroft GAA is the local Gaelic Athletic Association club.Mayor: Stephen Maher
