Brighterion

Brighterion (est. in 2000) is an artificial intelligence company owned by MasterCard.

History

Dr. Akli Adjaoute, while finishing his PhD in Artficial Intelligence [1] at Pierre and Marie Curie University, founded his first company, Conception En Intelligence Artificielle in 1988 in Paris, France where he was able to successfully apply his years of research in the field of artificial intelligence in various industries throughout Europe. Conception En Intelligence Artificielle initially offered Rylm, a platform (MINDsuite) based on Smart Agents, Neural Networks, Business Rules, Genetic Algorithms, Constraint Programming, Fuzzy Logic and Cased-based Reasoning.

Rylm’s first application was in the decommissioning of nuclear facilities and Radioactive waste. This application was led by the team that invented the programming language PROLOG and is described in the Radioactive Waste Handling Operations paper[2].

Rylm’s second application was in healthcare at Necker Hospital as highlighted by the French magazine L’Usine Nouvelle Technologies[3].

Another application of Rylm was in network troubleshooting as described in the French magazine 01 Informatique[4].

The technology behind Rylm was also successfully applied in various other fields including: financials, supply chain, retail, and military.

Rylm has received recognition for its industry-leading technology including mention in the Meta Group report Data Mining Market[5] for best Machine Learning Technology.

In 2000, this technology formed the foundation of Brighterion, Inc. and in 2002, Raymond Kendall, three-time Secretary General of INTERPOL joined the company as its chairman. Since the founding of Brighterion, the core technology has been adapted and improved for real-time applications in the fields of homeland security, payment, compliance, IoT, healthcare, and marketing.

Brighterion has received multiple awards including: the Payment Security Excellence Award, the 2017 Cool Vendor by Gartner, Inc.[6] and the Morgan Stanley Fintech Award[7][8].

Brighterion holds several patents.[9]

In August 2017, Mastercard acquired Brighterion[10] [11].
