Bribie Island State High School is a high school located on the island of Bribie Island, Queensland, Australia.

Established in 1989, Bribie Island State High School is available for students in grades 7 to 12 and has an enrolment of over 1,000 students.[1]

Mission Statement & Values

According to the school's website (see references), "Bribie Island State High School enjoys a strong reputation for quality education. We seek to provide a rewarding and engaging education for all students. The schools' vision is to be a leader in secondary education, through the provision of the best value education for Island families, responsive to their needs and aspirations." (Bribie Island SHS, 2018).

Furthermore, the values of "The Bribie Way" are endorsed by the school and staff. These values are: respect, responsibility, unity and discovery. For example, if someone (e.g. Karen) is displaying inappropriate behaviour, she would be told, "Karen that isn't the Bribie Way."

Operation Times

The school is in operation from Monday to Friday every week of the school year in accordance with the Queensland Schools' Calendar. There are 4 sessions per day, as well as ECP (rollmarking) with a lunch break and recess.

  • ECP: 8:30am
  • Period 1: 8.40am
  • Period 2: 9.50am
  • First break: 11am
  • Period 3: 11.50am
  • Second break: 1pm
  • Period 4: 1.20pm
  • Finish: 2.30pm.

The office is in operation on Monday - Thursday: 8am to 4pm and Friday: 8am to 3.30pm.

International Program

Uniform

Bribie Island State High School employs strict uniform policies. Male students must wear either a white formal shirt with formal navy shorts. Female students must wear a white blouse with a navy skirt. There are many unisex items, including sports shorts, navy polo shirts, jackets, knit jumpers and bucket hats. Students must wear the correct uniform, including black polishable shoes and white socks (not black). Students who do not follow these policies, for example, Karen, may be given a lunchtime or afterschool detention.
