Professor Brian MacCraith is the current, and third, president of Dublin City University (DCU) in Ireland. He joined DCU in 1986 and became President in July 2010.
Life
MacCraith was born in Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland, as was DCU's founding president. He has a BSc in Physics and completed a PhD on "Optical Spectroscopy of chromium-doped crystal", both from NUI Galway.
Research interests
MacCraith led research into optical sensors in the National Centre for Sensor Research (NCSR) at Dublin City University from 1999. He was also director of DCU's Biomedical Diagnostics Institute.[1][2][3]
