Boo Sra Waterfall, also referred to as Bou Sra or Bonsraa Waterfalls, is a scenic waterfall located in Mondulkiri Province in Cambodia.[1] It can be found in the Pechr Chenda District in Bousra Eco Park, 43 kilometres from the provincial town of Senmonorom and just 15 kilometres from the Vietnamese border.[2] Considered one of Cambodia's most famous tourist attractions, Boo Sra is popular due to its triple-tier drop.[3] Previously, Boo Sra could only be viewed on ground level. However, with recent additions of platforms, guests can now see the waterfall from higher elevations for a better view.[4]

The Three Levels of the Waterfall

In its first tier, the waterfall has a diameter of 15m and a height of 15-20m during the dry season, and a 20m diameter and 18-25m height in the rainy season.[5]

The second drop of the waterfall lies 150 meters from the first stage. During the dry season it has a 23m diameter and a 15-20m height, and during the rainy season has a 20m diameter and 18-25m height.[6]

At the third drop, the waterfall is more powerful than at the second drop, but it cannot be reached on foot due to geographical obstructions.[7]

Failed Eco-Tourism Development

The Sar Lar Investment company had spent $2 million USD of the total projected $6 million USD project budget to clear forests and construct a road to develop the Bou Sra Waterfall Eco Resort, but then pulled out of the project because of "capital concerns." The project was undertaken due to worries the waterfall, which is popular with tourists, is underdeveloped.[8]
