BoStad2021

The building Sjöstjärnan (Sea star) in Frölunda is part of BoStad2021.

BoStad2021 (Housing 2021) is a housing project by the City of Gothenburg, Sweden, in collaboration with construction clients. The development project started in 2014 with the aim of providing 7000 apartments in a new process that is to shorten the time of planning. The ultimate goal is to have all the projects finished until 2021 when the City of Gothenburg celebrates 400 years (Gothenburg quadricentennial jubilee). 30 projects are part of BoStad2021 with 27 construction clients involved.[1][2]

BoStad2021 was initiated by construction clients and architects who approached the City of Gothenburg asking to build 5000 apartments. The first proposition came from HSB, Semrén & Månsson Arkitektkontor, Wallenstam and Förvaltnings AB Framtiden. The city officials then set the goal to 7000 apartments. In 2015 an agreement was signed by the city and the construction clients. In 2017 the first groundbreaking took place. In 2018 zoning plans for 7000 apartments had been approved.[3] I projektet testas bland annat att arbeta med parallella processer.[4]

The project is followed and evaluated by a group of researchers from Chalmers University of Technology.[5] [6]

The name BoStad2021 is a word play with Bo meaning living and Stad City, together forming the word housing.
