Bluey Robinson

Bluey Alexander Robinson[1] (born 6 August 1990) is a British singer-songwriter, actor and recording artist from South London. He was born in Stockholm, Sweden and is of mixed heritage.

Early life

Bluey moved to Hackney from Sweden at 3 months old and was raised by his single mother. He discovered his passion for music at the age of three, singing along to vinyls of; Otis Redding, The Drifters, Jackson 5, Bob Marley and The Beatles on the home turntable. These legendary artists became just a few of his early inspirations. While in school, Bluey took part in school performances and sometimes took lessons in traditional Indian dance during lunch. He was asked, to perform these at an event for Prince Charles in Peckham and afterwards was urged by his dance teacher to audition for the role of 'Young Simba,' in the upcoming West End debut of Disney's, 'The Lion King.' Though getting to the final rounds, he missed out on the role until eventually gaining it a year later. He performed for 6 months and the experience is noted as being definitive in cementing his passion for music and the arts. He followed this passion and attended an after school drama club with Sharon Harris arts. Bluey briefly played Billie Jackson on the BBC soap opera Eastenders and gained other acting parts for TV and theatre.

Musical career

Focussed on achieving notoriety through his first love of music, Bluey formed a vocal harmony group with some school friends. After years working together, the group eventually parted ways. As a solo act, he later earned recognition through Youtube by uploading videos of himself singing Stevie Wonder, Boyz II Men and Motown classics to unsuspecting commuters on the streets and underground services of London, Paris and New York. Eventually earning millions of views and working with, then unknown producer, Labrinth, he soon caught the attention of label and industry heads. Robinson landed a deal with Sony, RCA, under management team, London Village Music. After a troubled run however, due to internal department restructure, Bluey was able to leave his contract 2 years later. Still firmly driven, he went on to release 2 independent projects and completed his own UK tour 'The Late Shift Tour in 2013.' He joined Justin Bieber onstage in Europe and the UK for the My World Tour as an opening act and has been main support for, D'angelo, Alicia Keys, Trey Songz and friend Tinie Tempah on theirs. He also recently performed with, Chance The Rapper,’ and James Corden [2] for a special event in Sicily. Exploring different avenues, Bluey had a screen test for MTV bosses and found himself a weekly slot as a news host for the network. Now as an independent artist, he is recording and writing new material whilst also being a lead vocalist in new BBC tipped, ‘HOT FOR 2017’ collective, 'The Fedz.'
