Blindekuh (operetta)

Blindekuh (Blind Man's Buff) is an operetta written by Johann Strauss II. It was first performed in Vienna at the Theater an der Wien on 18 December 1878, its composition delayed by the death of Strauss' wife, Jetty Treffz.[1] The overture was performed earlier at a charity event. The operetta was not very well received, having been withdrawn after only sixteen performances,[2] but the overture established itself in the repertoire of many orchestras.
