Birkdale High School is an all-boys secondary school with academy status situated in Southport in North West England. Located close to neighbouring schools Christ the King and Greenbank High School (the equivalent girls' school), Birkdale was originally a co-educational school known as Birkdale Secondary Modern School. The school lacks a sixth form and only takes boys from ages 11–16. The uniform consists of a blue blazer, black trousers, a shirt and a tie. A navy blue jumper is also optional. The school also has good public transport links, located near Hillside Rail Station.

Ofsted

Birkdale enjoyed a sustained period of positive Ofsted Reports, receiving 'Good with Outstanding Features' in 2006. The school led the league table in the Southport area for the highest A*-C GCSE grades. In 2011 however, the school failed its inspection and was placed into 'Special Measures' by the regulatory body.[1] Ofsted returned in the coming months to find that progress had been made [2] in the school.

In November 2013 Ofsted carried out a full inspection and gave the school a 'Good'[3] rating, at which time the 'Special Measures' status of the school was rescinded.
